Our First Evening

Our First Evening

A Poem by Christina May Shanaberg
"

For Richard Carl McKee, whom is still a part of my life; however, I just can't seem to figure out what part he is playing.

"

OUR FIRST EVENING

Our tender evening,

My silent daydream,

A quiet moment where

We dared to share;

The only love I knew,

Before there was you,

Was so phony

Leaving me despirately lonely;

Life lived, again, that once died,

When you touched me inside;

Because you were real,

I lost my fear to feel;

I had hoped so deeply

For a kiss given so sweetly

That it warmed my heart,

Right from the start;

Was it destiny

That brought you to me

Or a perfect accident

When our eyes met

Or, maybe, at our birth

We were sent across the earth

In search of the evening

We shared a dream.

Luv ya, Rick, you "Monkeyhead!" We are "soul-mates," but not necessarily lovers.

The poem is beautiful. Few people can spark a life forever. I like the kind story in your words. I like the complete poem. Ending was perfect. A outstanding poem of love and friendship.
