The music I love

The music I love

A Poem by Anne’sRants

Thin Ice, Frosted white,
pooling by frozen curbs.
They crack, like brittle iron
to a child's delight.

It says "broken,
but beautiful;
I paint the city streets
with a feeling; cold

Air. Disturbed
by metal machines
parted by speed
so you hear it leave.

It breathes-powerful-
a set of living lungs.
Of through-ways and side-streets
Its sound a rush, as we spun.

Its sings a major chord.
Hard, Sharp, And strong
A sound that snaps
like luffing sails, then is gone.

Creaking doors
Against heavy morning; grey.
A quiet busyness
that careless ones don't display.

It sings; thoughtful,
silence-a minor chord
as we contemplate
the day.

Fresh; she smells
of petrichor-
that odd scent
of dust after rain.

They clash; dissonant
and seem to say,
"disappointment,
dissatisfied, disarray"

This is the music
I hold close to my chest.
It beats like a heart,
with joy and unrest.

It moves with a rhythm
erratic at best.
It speaks
of unexpected happiness.

We call this life,
With its untimely grace
I wish someday
I might see her face.

Author's Note

Anne’sRants
I apologize for the recurring topic. Music has always been such a hiding place for me; I stumble trying to explain the deep place in my heart it occupies.

Really liked the spare, clear delivery of this one. It seems to take a frank, honest view of life. It accepts that disappointment and disarray are part of it, but I don't get a feeling of despair here. Rather, a patient willingness to give life a chance, believing there is good to be had from it. We call this faith.

The cacophony of life's music is what makes it beautiful....
Great flow and reveal....
Cheers Anne!

you aren't the only one, Anne...
I have grown up with music being a big part of my soul.
Can't be enough poems about it...i think in the next life i want to be a song.
Music is my heart beat, my soul mate.
great poem...and i, too, like the short musical beat of the lines.
