YouA Poem by Anne’sRants
You, are so many things to me.
I can't count the meaning. It is difficult to see; but I see you when I'm dreaming I remember cold nights huddled in your arms; war raging above us as we talked of flying kites Our ridiculous tea parties where we drank with grim faces. while you spoke in another accent; pursed lips so we didn't let the laughter out That time you showed up at our door To give us love and happiness, The kind we've known before after a long day's work. You treated it as no surprise because, of course, This is where you belong; We knew it with a certain force. A million others come to mind. Dreams of dirt bikes and swing sets, frog-catching, secret clubs and forts. Hide-and-go-seek, friendship bracelets- It all means so much to me. It all means so much more. Time goes on as you have, and these old dreams fade. Can we make new ones in these timid summer days? I will sit out on my porch tonight and learn the wisdom of the stars. Maybe they'll carry it back to you I love you and that is all. That is who you are.
