My KingdomA Poem by Anne’sRants
When I was little
We didn’t just dry Ourselves off after a bath. The towels were wings And we were birds This was our craft ________________ When I was little And we went on Drives in the country, The hills were the tracks Of a roller coaster. It wasn’t an act. ________________ These were the tools
we were given, And With them we flew; Flew so high We tasted the stars And tore open the sky
________________ We saw-as only children could- We weren’t confined to dugout and raft But voyageurs on the high seas. This was our kingdom- A yellowed two story Our castle, we perceived. ________________ We waged war With the wild And chased the rainbow To its end. We refused to believe it a lie; And so, we continued to fly. ________________ Past pine tips and mountains Wings glazed with ice Till we sat, and watched the northern lights. As they danced among the snow
At night, while glowing faces watched Emerald ladies Without being caught
________________ We battled dragons With soft brown eyes And golden scales. Dodged the fire Using armored pillows To protect our kingdom
________________ We never hid from the enemy- Time-but we fought him too Till his pendulum tie lay long dead, in its tomb. So our kingdom was safe on the dark lagoon. Why did we have To leave so soon?
