If wandering to somewhere is what people do
I will wander to nowhere to find something new
Undiscovered worlds, broken walls and waterfalls
If becoming part of society is the required norm I will break the rules and venture into the storm
New faces, car chases, forget the restrictions of bases
If being afraid is normal to all who watch the news
I will turn it off, look away, and cut the fuse
Reading books under a tree, taking walks by the sea
If being a romantic is looked down upon in today's earth I will travel back in time to the beginning of my birth Slow dancing in the rain, making love on a speeding train
I will wander to nowhere to be somewhere
Now, this poem is all about me. My mom called me, one night, and I was crying; when she asked me what I was crying about, I told her the television news. She, brillliantly, said, "Well, turn it off." I did and haven't listened to it, since. I love the road less traveled, before I feel like an explorer; I, always, find what few dare to seek--peace and tranquility! Great poem, Chris; you hit the nail on the head with this one, in my book!
What lovely irony. I just love the way this poem has such crazy ideas but still remain so much rational. You truly have a talent to write something with a great concept and a good style. Simply elegant and unique. Great Poem.
=D This is quite me indeed, I'm a hopeless romantic so the "If being a romantic is looked down upon in today's earth
I will travel back in time to the beginning of my birth
Slow dancing in the rain, making love on a speeding train" Lines are very me! Awesome job I loved it =]
Loved this!!! I loved the optomism in this poem and it's message that it isn't that hard to be happy, you just have to look at all the wonderful things around you. :D It seems like especially nowadays people almost thrive off of being miserable, when there is really no need! I loved the line, "Undiscovered worlds, broken walls and waterfalls" just because it was beautful. I also loved the part about turning off the news because I am one of those that thinks the news should maybe broadcast some optomistic stuff now and again instead of always death. And I liked the young love segment too. Okay...I have rambled. The only thing that broke the flow was the use of "nowhere" twice in the last line. Not sure if there's a way you can rephrase that? Either way, great job! Obviously I liked this poem because I can't stop talking about it. XD
Love, Love, Love this write and I could not agree more with what you've said in this verse! I've travelled nowhere to be somewhere. The journey is not always pleasant, but it's been a great ride and I embrace each moment. Romantic is not looked down by those who see and feel it's beauty. Wonderful write and I enjoyed reading very much!
This poem makes me think I should make some much needed change and walk or wander into nowhere. I think we should live how we want to as long as we respect others along the way. It is freeing to be the person you want to be and I have made changes in the last year doing just that. This is an amazing write. i love the last five lines in this poem the most of all.
"If becoming part of society is the required norm
I will break the rules and venture into the storm"
Man, those two lines say everything that I've been working towards. To just do my own thing and be myself in a world that largely tells us to conform. I'm sure I'm not the only one who felt this way reading this though. You have an incredibly strong voice that flows from beginning to end. Awesome piece.
wow...you are a rebel.
its interesting, just yesterday my mom said romanticism and emotions are 18th century...this is time to be pragmatic...glad to know you still believe in finding one's own truths..
