In the closetA Poem by Bailey B.I don't know where this came from. I just got bored, wanted to write something, saw one of my old bears in the closet, and just wrote. You sit alone In the dark closet, Feeling lost and on your own. Where is the girl with curly brown hair? The one who played with you and loved you. The one who would take you everywhere. Has she forgotten you? Left you behind? No, you believe it's not true. You see her every day When she opens the closet door But she always shuts it and walks away. Maybe you have been telling yourself a lie. She's grown older and you have too. Maybe that's why she walks on by. You wish for just one more day, maybe soon, where you and her will again play. You hear the door open, Looking up you see it's her. And she's smiling at you again. You realize she does love you, In any way a girl can love her favorite teddy bear. And you'll always love her too. She picks you up and cradles you in her arm, Making sure to be careful of your old age And not cause any harm. Then you see a face, One that looks just like hers, Except for the green eyes taking the blue ones place. This young girl reaches towards you, And you smile inside, For it's just like her mother use to do. The mother gives you to the little one, A simple smile on her face, Knowing her time with you is done. This little girl, Whose eyes are bright with joy, Is now your whole world. © 2011 Bailey B. |
