I Knew A Girl

I Knew A Girl

A Poem by Christina Braceros

I once knew a girl

who smiled white pearls

She sat on the beach

and read all day

told jokes

and wrote poetry

I once knew a girl

who was able to light up a room

for a while she was lost

suffering from a broken heart

but now she is back

smiling like she once had

always laughing

always living

I knew that girl

gone now found

she was me

and now she's back

stronger than before

but sweeter than sugar

a little vicious at times

when hurt

just like a leo

but now I'm back

just like the girl I used to be

but new and improved

I discovered me

I once knew a girl

who lived and died

and was resurrected

in a matter of time

I was her than and now

and never again

will I be brought down

I'm not invicible

but I've gotten better

and now I can say

I'm happier

I once knew a girl

and she was lost

but now she's back

better than ever!

What hurts us makes us stronger. I like how you went from 3rd person to 1st to 3rd and back again. Very nice.
