Imaginings

Imaginings

A Poem by Christa

Did I imagine that first look we shared?
Passion I never dared to hope for
Did I imagine that first time your lips brushed mine?
Soft. Tender. Divine.
Did I imagine the heat which spread through us as our fingers intertwined?
How it was sweeter than even the nectar of heavens

Or am I now imagining how you never look my way?
How you scorn me
Am I now imagining the algidity emanating from within you?
Distant. Cold. Unresponsive.
Am I now imagining the disdain in your eyes when I approach?
How it pierces like a dagger to my soul

Tell me, which of my imaginings are true.
Please, not both
Tell me I am loved still.
Deep. Passionate. Steady.
Tell me you have always been frigid.
From the outset, denying me.

Which of my imaginings are truth?
Tell me...
Tell me please...
Please, darling please, not both.

Beautifully described both equally intense yet opposite sides of imagination.
