If I Were A Statue

If I Were A Statue

A Poem by Christa

If I were a statue
What would I be?
Would I be as seen by you
Or as I have viewed me?

If I were a statue
Would you carve me out of stone
Meld me together from metal
Or perhaps whittle me from bone?

If I were a statue
Would you in-lay me with a precious gem
Smooth all my rough edges
Or I to the rubble would you condemn?

If I were a statue
Where would be my place
Out in a hall, forever alone and forlorn?
Next to you always, would be my desired place.
