It Can Go EitherWay

It Can Go EitherWay

A Poem by Chris Atkinson

It Can Go Either Way

Your beauty proceeds every
Image of Eve
Were stronger now than
Ever we’ve been
Forgiveness and honesty
Time has shown is the key
To reclaiming our life
Or just delusional dreams

You know that we crave
The very same things
Bound together forever with
Infatuation and glee
Our lives filled with love
Devotion and peace
Two soul mates entwined
Or am I still in the dream

The intensity of love is
Is a souvenir of a life
Its a spectacular infusion
Of emotions inside
But at times lovers’ quarrel
Swiftly getting out of hand
Plodding with pace to arrivals
Waiting for heartache to land

You’re my Juliet of romance
With the keys to my soul
My Peter Pan of dreams
They will never grow old
Mistakes of the past
Just made in such haste
They’re just lessons in life
Paving new roads that we take

The roads that will hopefully
Lead back to our dreams
And not to a cross roads
We didn’t foresee
The love that we have
Forever will be
Weather we live it in harmony
Is still to be seen

I will cherish and adore you
Beyond the rest of my days
You’re unique and so special
In every which way
Two kindred spirits
Still together when apart
Where left with these choices
One will tear us apart

We can stay together forever
And take the advice of Al Green
Or block out our love
And just live with the pain
I hope we do realise
Before it’s too late
The blissful life we can have
Shear contentment again

The wisdom in these lines is priceless. Makes me think of a transition from immaturity to maturity, where "lessons" are actually learned and acted upon to make positive improvements. But I always think of "love" not being rational and the craziest of decisions are made due to the levels of emotion involved.

A beautiful write, rich in feeling and aspirations. Penny

You are welcome...:)..................
This is very nice. A heartfelt message beautifully conveyed with raw emotion and creative use of language.
There are a few spots that felt a little "off" in the flow, but overall was pleasant... Also did you mean Whether we live it in harmony instead of weather?
