WildfireA Poem by Christopher AngelFlowing with the flame like a moth to fire Getting burned more times that I've cared to count The orange-red dancers in my gaze I so admired I chased the light till the blaze was gone Now I'm lying here waiting for a spark My head is torn in two When I saw your face like a light in the dark I ran from the truth The shadows dragged me in closer, than I've ever been Maybe I don't want to escape this prison I'm in But I'm groping for a door and a way for this to end And your face again takes shape no matter where I stand You lit the fire and I watched it burn The warmth of your hands through the flame From the dark, my heart, away it turned I hunger for the blaze only in your gaze Don't let me fall, save me now! Take my hand and let's walk this path While together, I'll kiss the flame one last time and hold it close And say goodbye when the fire in my hand dies And the wildfire in my heart grows
