A special day...

A special day...

A Poem by Christopher Paul

The air was full of laughter and joy
There were smiles on the faces of every girl and boy
The room was decorated, the day was special
People hurried, making sure everything was on schedule

Among all the joy sat a man
Alone, with a card in hand
There were tears in his eyes
Like the mother of a bride

He heard the organ music play
He stood up and looked away
She walked past all dressed in white
He had a glimpse and almost began to cry

At the alter she took his hand
This stranger she wanted as her husband
The man got up and walked out the door
They kissed, all rejoiced, he saw what he came for

On the church steps he looked at the card
It was for this wedding, he laughed hard
He smiled and seeing his chance
He said to himself “No more alimony! No more alimony”
And began to dance.
