When You Sojourn A While a Poem by Chris T.
When the times are tough, rough, hard and hostile, Then it might be time to sojourn a while. If the grinding of my teeth won’t masticate my favorite food Then the only warning might conclude, That you’ve been trying it your way for far, far too long.
And, after I strum my favorite chord and no joy sails from my heart, I will begin to find that my stress is now off the chart. For I try and try, work and play, give no quarter and chip and chip away, Now it creeps, it crawls, finds no rhythm and eats up all my day. Once was a mission has now become decay.
My muscles, my intellect and every ounce of my might, Is collected in order, of my design and my self-imposed plight. Confusion, remorse, weariness and surprise, Has led to my detour but not my demise. The cloudy eyes have cleared and an epiphany has begun.
I realize it’s time to pull off of the road, And listen to that voice that lightens my load, To stop clicking off all those miles and miles For now it is time to sojourn a while. © 2012 Chris TaylorAuthor's Note
