Pray, Wish Me Tomorrow

Pray, Wish Me Tomorrow

A Poem by Chris Taylor

Pray, Wish Me Tomorrow

a poem by Chris T.

The pressure, the pummeling, this life that I am to cope.

A promise, a foundation and a reason to hope.

I know there have been prayers for my pain and my sorrow,

But please, pray, wish me tomorrow.

For I never know if a moment will continue,

and I can’t predict if this will still be my whole view.

Over and Over it turns in my mind,

The offerings you’ve made  they’re so very kind.

I have given, taken and placed out of sight,

The sacrifices I’ve done with all of my might.

Slicing small pieces of my life to all that might borrow,

But please, pray, wish me a fine tomorrow.

Now is the effort, toil and tussle

And this time it won’t move with all of my muscle.

A fight I can’t win my discipline or resolve,

Like a mystery with all the clues, but still I can’t solve.

So thanks for your wishes, your thoughts and your grace

But please don’t forget to fall on your face.

Don’t get me wrong but please drop your bravado.

So, forget not to pray and wish me tomorrow.

Author's Note

Chris Taylor
The last few months I have been fully entrenched in a difficult battle. I usually wear my cares on my sleeve, so it is easy to see when I am going through something. I have had a lot of people come up to me and say “thinking about you” and “I totally understand what you are going through”. Their hearts are in the right place, but, what I really need is: Prayer. You see when you drop to your knees and speak to the Father on my behalf, you activate the power of Heaven and things just get done. So, if someone in your life, or, sphere of existence, is struggling, do the most loving and powerful thing one can do; ask Jesus to intercede for them. This will not be a long comment here. I will let the poem speak for itself but here is a verse to chew on. Hebrews 7:25 “Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost [fn]
those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make
intercession for them. “

It seems tonight, or rather early this morning for me, I have read so many things, and discussed so many things that involve life and tomorrow. This is a really heartfelt poem and everyone needs hope for tomorrow. Tomorrow brings new life and new hope and it brings you a fresh start. So I understand your need for a tomorrow. Beautiful poem, I loved reading it :) Thank you for posting.

Perfect rhyming, spot on flow, this was one pleasure to read. It made me ponder if you every read your works aloud publicly that is how good it was. The flow made me feel as if I was hosting my open mic night!
