The IntruderA Poem by Chris Taylor
The Intruder
a poem by Chris
Your long pointed nose you wedge into couples Causing division where ever you go Motivated by hurt, selfishness and greed Tearing asunder perfect harmony
Like a harlot disguised as an orchid Your pitcher plant snares the unsuspecting No beautiful thing will you leave untouched And no holy union escapes the taste of venom’s kiss
The rattler is silent and lays in the grass Watching and waiting is its deadly game Dripping with honey words that seem to caress the neck But sting, strike and prick is the trap that it has laid
Building up the less confident, with words of inspiration Planting your acrid seed on suffering soil Like a twisting vine that grabs the foundation Crumbling a house that was once made chaste
So beware the intruder in your hallowed land Tolerate not creatures who divide Take not your eyes off of the horizon And protect the sanctity of matrimony’s endowment © 2011 Chris TaylorAuthor's Note
