Leftovers

Leftovers

A Poem by Erik Crowder

I gave you my soul,
I gave you my love,
But I wasn't good enough.
Heartless b***h.
You spat back at me
Spiteful and cruel.
Crushing me into dust,
Sealing my fate.
Because of you,
I am scared to rise,
Scared to fly free.
I am chained unto these rocks
Bound by doubt,
Weighed down by fear,
Turned away by hope.
I remember the good times,
Before you tore out my soul,
And fed it to your dogs of hate.
Before me became he,
And we became were.
I remember,
Though I do not survive.

Powerful imagery, and you combine it well with the emotions. Its got an almost abrasively raw feel to it. Like someone tearing open their skin to show whats inside.
You have the heart of a poet.
Great read, thanks for sharing!
