Pain and Muses

Pain and Muses

A Poem by T. L. O'Neal

Pain and Muses

Written by: T. L. O’Neal

Emotion is emotion

Good or bad

Feeds the soul

The fires

That burn deep inside

Fuels my passions

The passions to create

Love or hate

It doesn’t really matter

Just release the muse

Set the spirit free

Release the madness

That’s inside my head

Let it go

What’s the outcome

I don’t know

Don’t really care

Just let it flow

Like a river

A river of love or hate

Sadness or glee

Creative spirit

Work for me

Don’t forsake

Let my madness

Be a blessing

Not a curse

Love hurts too

Much as depression

Rage

Hatred

Get angry at the world

And angry with the words

They’re all the same

The only difference

The outcome

Emotions

Feed the flames

In the end

It’s all

There’s nothing left

But

Pain and muses

Well put. Sad that the rest of the world rarely understands the way we feel and channel... some might say, the way we "cope." I like the way "we" take the mediums provided and create something of beauty that moves from setting to setting and reaches out to everyone to evoke some emotion. Well written as always, my friend... as always.

Awesome write, man. Way to just let all the thoughts and feelings flow like that. The pace is solid and the feelings are true. Great job!

Ditto to crystal, word for word, yet I still enjoyed this. makes me wonder what would spark this change of direction.

I never mind getting a request to read from you, because I am never disappointed! I don't think I've encountered this form from you previously, but I enjoyed it thoroughly!

Sadness or glee
Creative spirit
Work for me

I know everyone that writes can relate to this, but reading it, I felt it was there just for me. That's quite a poetic accomplishment, in my meager opinion!

you need to get on evoca and start adding some voice to these pieces. i think this would sound great. i love the whole thought process here and that title is so great.

I see Van Gogh when I read this, or Poe. Genius and madness travel along the same line, side by side, slashing at each other in every attempt to pass the other up; thus they remain neck in neck.
I like the way this moves the reader, awakening something in each and every, giving a common ground.
"Creative spirit
Work for me "
I think that about sums up every writer's mantra, whether subconcious or conciously done- it's said in some form by each of us.

Interesting. The line between creativity and madness has always been a fine line, at least in Western culture. Allowing the inner rage and madness to fuel our creative urges risks all in the name of art. Yet so often that's what artists do. Well spoken.

I like this poem, very much. It reminds me of one of my own... dualism is a popular subject for writers, don't you agree?

I love British Literature and many of your poems and mine remind me of the relationship between Coleridge and Wordsworth. They wrote on similar subjects and where ever you saw one's work, the other was usually on the next page.

so true. a great river uses many streams to feed it. Be it Anger, or Love, the River of creativity flows well only when fed by something. Nice poem. Lines like,
"Fuels my passions
The passions to create
Love or hate "
really sttod out to me. Very enjoyable

a very keen write. I love the perception that the author writes from in this one. So many great lines in here, it hits so close to home. It sounds exactly like something that i would like to write because it's exactly how feel. You have captured my emotions, thoughts in this piece and that alone amazes me.
