Guilt Trip

Guilt Trip

A Poem by T. L. O'Neal

Guilt Trip

Written by: T. L. O’Neal

I take a lot of trips

And you always provide the way

They’re fueled on my misery

On the path that you lay

I knew better than to follow

But I always seem to go

I could of resisted

But I have no ego

Why do I persist

In letting you send me there

Always falling for the trap

Getting caught in your snare

I always seem to have a ticket

And always ready for the ride

Never going anywhere

But always losing my pride

These guilt trips I’ve taken

Isn’t much of a ride

It’s never been fun at all

On these guilt trips you provide

"I knew better than to follow
But I always seem to go " - great great line.

the last lines - i love their meaning, but they don't seem to flow as well as they could. "it certainly is" - the tongue stumbles over that. of course, i'm trying to think of a better alternative and can't seem to come up with anything right now, so i'm pretty useless, hehe.

great subject matter though, and i love the way you carry it all the way through.

Loved the ride... you took the reader somewhere with this one... last stanza I'd like to see have more umph! or, match the previous flow.

My favorite line: "Never going anywhere But always losing my pride" EXCELLENT!

I think we have all been there. It's hard to say no. And the way you feel, against your will. Maybe though, it's not for you but for them. After all we are here for each other and possibly just sharing a few moments of your time gives someone else a motive a way to live. I think the most beautiful aspect of living is giving yourself freely to someone who needs you.
