My Prayer

Written by: T. L. O’Neal

We ask you Lord to bless the tired and weak

And to honor the spiritual and the meek

Heal the sick and the old

Look after the hungry and the cold

Help the poor to afford to live

And give people the compassion to forgive

Show the way to those that’s lost

Take away their anguish at any cost

Help us to be strong and on our feet

For one day it’s you that we’ll meet

Help those whose spirit is broken

Open up the skies and show them heaven

Help those with pain in so many ways

Bring them joy to live and obey

Help us who’s afraid of the dark

To light our way through life’s spiritual park

Help us to love one another

To accept each other as our brother

Help us spread your love around

And pick them up when they’re down

Help those who cannot see

Open their eyes for they can be free

God love us one and all

From the short to the very tall

With this Lord we do pray

Bless us with another day

Amen

but seriously this is good, how do you think people's poems become authorized creeds, ya know things people pray as standards they were probably poems before that, i never figured it out

This brought me back to the foundational basics of belief and for that, I thank you.

Prayer is powerful and this poem definitely packs a reverent energy that's refreshing and inspirational in its sincerity.

TL,
I loved this poem. Don't think me crazy, but this poem has the same qualities as Dan Fogelberg's work. It's simple but very powerful. I can tell I'm going to be a big fan of your work.

Keep writing.....you have more inside of you.

A beautifully simple, heart-felt prayer to our Creator. Amen, my brother.

A perfect prayer would be one that would be privately said in the peace of a new day about to dawn. It would not be a list of requests for personal needs or desires for ourselves or our own family. A perfect prayer would be for others... the forgotten, the sick, the blind. A perfect prayer would ask God to use us to be the messengers of His love.

People so often foolishly ask Why did God allow this or that?... or why didn't God prevent such and such?... If God didn't put the poor or the blind or the lame in our path, where would our blessing be?

What you have written here sir, is a perfect prayer!
