What is Love?

What is Love?

A Poem by The Pain Stays Fresh

I was asked once
"What is love?"
Here is your answer.
Love is beautiful
and kind
and trusting.
Love is the safety net
that catches you when you fall.
Love is always there.
It never strays too far.
It is a warm coat
to chase away the cold
of peoples' icy hearts.
Love is ever persistent.
It never gives up.
This world would do well
to have more love.

Beautiful, but it would be wrong to conclude this is all love is. You've only shown one side of the emotion - Love can do the exact opposite thing to us you imply it does. It is a wonderful poem, but you're only addressing half of the emotion. It is very well written and I like the little detail at the end - the little heart. You did a great job - but might I suggest editing the title to become "What is Love to Me?". It is your poem ad you've the right to do with it as you like - this is just one of many differentiating opinions.

Instead of chasing away the cold, wouldn't a warm coat protect what is important and keep it secure? I could picture you turning your collar to the damp and freeze as snowflakes frost-bomb your nose. : ) It's a cute poem.... A pretty poem!! Beautiful Cheyenne. xoxo -Mark

Something light and swooning to read in a cold night, such a wondrous figment from a young, insightful mind. This poem made me miss my guy even more :| anyway that doesn't matter, what matters is that you did a pretty good job :)
