Calculated Response

Calculated Response

A Poem by Gionelly Kiss
"

In this world, we work like calculators. Following preset rules.

"

As I sit and think,

The world spins and sinks

Such sweet dreams

Turn on their knees

The one at the apex of the matter

Deposits the resolution with a clatter

Leaving insight as clear as water

The drops clean out my slate

Like the baptism pool that cleanses my soul

No further inhibiting errors

Now the mechanism is set in motion

The appendages correspond

Programmed not by simple whims

Pulling me, it seems,

To push the pawn

Tradition dictates the instrument

Whose movements increment

According to calculation

Figures in my brain

Begin to sum themselves

I lose control

I know the scheme

My thoughts, I tuck away;

I stand and must follow

His will,

To reproduce

Our calculated response
