The Tears Upon My Face

The Tears Upon My Face

A Poem by Gionelly Kiss
"

Extended metaphor: stones to tears. Doors symbolize each nerve or body-part that the tears touch (knock on) in their descent.

"

A stone

It tumbles from off me

Rattling and knocking

Each door upon its descent

It drops stone cold at my feet

Each nerve in me screams

Hooting and hollering at the stone

that knocked at the door

Then, they turn and slam

Each one their doors

Paralyzing me

Making me numb

I try to scream at the stone

While it just sits in cold silence

God's eye cries with me

As stones fall from His face, too,

Revived by his warmth

I turn to see His nerves

the doors upon which His stones knocked

The delicate bough of waving trees

sharing His burden

His regal cardinals and graceful Blue Jays

carrying His Grief and His Joy in their songs

While my stones mix with His

And I can see no more

I blink back these mounds of weighty pain

Until only pebbles of joy remain

I have looked to my side and above

To the ones carrying my burden

without a sound

Unlocking my soul

Gently tugging a smile and

Sigh of relief from the hold of these stones

These tears upon my face.

I find it really weird to describe a stone as "stone cold". But maybe it's just me. I like the concept of this poem although I was a bit confused at some points. I like the way you describe problems as stones. It's really appropriate.

Keep Writing. ^___^
