For those who don't appreciate poetry, it's a struggle to get them to recognize our words....like trying to eat a killer whale one bite at a time...I know this frustration. Oblivion is perfect for so many situations, not just poetry. But for us, poetry is a precious release. Well done Chloe!

Thank you, Frieda!
Oops and yes I meant "Sewn"! Thank you for pointing that out! :)
"To us, words are the sword with which we fight our battles"
That line really jumped out at me, not sure why but it did. This is a very strong poem, and it's brilliant. Don't doubt yourself, it's just as awesome as your others. All your writing screams amazing! Good job Chloe, i enjoyed thoroughly.
This was very nicely written. Ones whim, and being channeled from deep feelings (upon another in this case), can really bring something powerful into being.
As a professional writer-friend once said, "Don't bother trying to explain. They just won't get it."
True of both, non-writers and some people in general.
Personally, this is one of the best of writers-on-writers works I've read in awhile. Loved several lines but highlighting, "You will never see beyond the landscape of your arrogance" as my favorite...says it all.
Words express so much, especially for us that write. I didn't view this piece as talking about an individual person, but of the struggles, highs and lows of the life of a writer. I really enjoyed the read and it solidified the passion in me for why I write in the first place. I thought this was an excellent piece Chloe!
I didn't necessarily think about any individual when I read this. I thought about how writers/poets are a unique breed and not always understood by the world at large. But this poem is amazing! Only one small suggestion; you might consider changing "words are the sword in which we fight our battles with" to more standard syntax such as "words are the sword with which we fight our battles." Also see Frieda's comment about "sewn" versus "sown."

Thank you Jennie!
I have edited it now- your words are greatly appreciated! :)
To a writer words can mean everything, they are our passion, our hearts, our souls, our pain, our joy spilled onto the page for all the world to see, to understand, and to appreciate.... To others, they are nothing.. meaningless... They use them to get what they want... to superficially amuse you... but they don't "see".... They don't know the value, the depth, the treasure in the words that we choose, the composition that we create... They smile and say all the right things, but they don't "get it".... This is well done ma'am... good job!
I can feel your frustrations and passion blending together in this write. Powerful use of words here (of course, the only way a writer works).
I know how it goes, when others do not appreciate the words we use. They do not realize that to us, they are more than just words, they are our hearts and souls. It's a struggle, but for those who don't understand, they never will. I've learned to let them live with the lose of our hearts.
Beautifully penned my dear! xo :)
