The Piano

Free verse poem about playing the piano.

Black and white keys

A melodic escape

An entwining of music that whisks away

To a place where emotions

Are exposed in the light

 

Where the harmonious fluidity of music

Surrounds us, dances with us, captivates us

The resonating sound washing away sin and regret

Possessing, enchanting, haunting

 

Mellow and nimble

Piercing the air

Complex

Bittersweet

 

Echoes breaking free from chords

Echoes that are words which remain unspoken

Fluttering, flying, dispersing

An expression of diverse emotions

 

The reason for sanity
