Next In Line

A Poem by snapstache
"

we're all followers now, right??

"

"Step right up!

Make-up and tattoos,

Nose rings and cutting,

Pregnant teens,

Suicidal Teens!

We got them all!

Just get in line,"

Here I am,

I've waited so long,

For my turn,

For my name,

To be called,

The man smiles at me,

"So you're next?",

I nod my head,

"What a shame".

Is all he says,

I see the line,

Very long,

Of waiting people,

Waiting to be called,

All soon to be,

Another me,

As I am,

Another her,

As was in front of me.

I can really relate to this. We follow because we don't want singled out as "wierd" yet we want to be noticed, recognised and for our name to be called at the same time. Hit the nail right on the head.

One thing though... I don't think people commit suicide because they want to follow their friends

The Rest is awesome though

I believe better to run with the wolves then walk with the cattle to the slaughter house. I like this poem. You are correct. Too many people walk the straight line. Need to escape and feel the wind in your face. A outstanding poem.
