The Broken Machine

The Broken Machine

A Poem by snapstache
"

why do treat some people so horribly?

"

Normal on the outside,

Yet broken on the inside,

A machine,

A clock,

That's just missing some parts.

Maybe its a wheel,

Or possibly a screw,

And without it,

The machine doesn't work.

Their brain doesn't function right,

So we all laugh,

Which makes their so much harder.

They have so many obstacles,

And we're just one of them,

They have to overcome.

Why,

Are we so judgemental?

Why,

Can't we see?

What's behind,

The broken machine?

This isn't the best, but I think we need to realize that people with autism or down syndrome can't help what's wrong with them.

I love how in your face this poem is. Sometimes we do laugh at people, not necessarily with the serious diseases such as people who have autism, but people who are slightly different. There's no excuse for it.

I love the short sharp lines. Each one is like a reality stab reminding us.

Great write

By the way, love you profile pic of the teddy bear and head phones. (That's what made me come to look at your poems lol, all worth it though :) )

Sometime we underestimate people also. Sometime disabilities make people do great things. Poem is outstanding. The purpose of your words stood strong and you made your point.
