I thought

I thought

A Poem by snapstache
"

for my best friend...

"

I thought you said you'd never let go,

You said you'd love me forever,

My smile fades,

As you walk away,

I thought you promised to always make me smile,

When I'm sad,

But now I'm sad,

And you keep backing away,

You broke my heart,

So don't try to fix me,

I know you don't care,

Just keep on going,

I'll keep on smiling,

Just fooling myself,

Now I think back,

To all the promises you made,

All the ones you've broken,

I thought you said you'd love me forever,

My mistake.

Boy, now there's a common theme. It's very difficult to be original on something that has been done to death, so you can be forgiven for not adding anything to the idea. You convey your message well (do I detect a little undercurrent of anger) and you are as straight as you should be. No complaints from me.

Those promises of love. A excellent poem. We are left standing and not understanding why things fall like they do. The flow of words and story was perfect.
