Childhood Memories
I remember moving houses and starting
elementary.
The struggle of learning to read,
till with the help of a friend,
in third grade I found the right books.
We made our way through all the good
books
And by the fourth grade we had to
search somewhere else
for our elementary library could no
longer fill our desire for books,
so I would beg my brother to check me
out books from the high school.
I remember in middle school being so
proud,
I had finally made it to the high
school campus.
My love for the library with the coffee
shop inside.
My friend and I would sit side by side,
reading for hours at a time.
It didn’t take us long to read through
the books there too.
Our minds were still not satiated so
again we had to look outward.
My fondest memories from my childhood
all revolve around the same school.
Where I met my greatest friend and
found my sanctuary among the books.
When I look back I wouldn’t change a thing,
for the memories there shape who I am
today.
