Proud to be

Proud to be

A Poem by Chilson, Joshua
"

I come from a very mixed origin family, I find in these times this is important. I know where I came from and it means a lot to me, I wear this proudly.

"
Your negativity
and blatant racism
is appalling
an intolerable ignorance
as we are all immigrants.

Such hatred
no understanding
that before you stands
a proud man
of mixed origin.

These roots stretch
blood of Blackfoot and Mayan
Mexican and German
Irish and polish
my war drums always beat.

So I stand
opposing your words
as your trump card falls
against iron walls
and the will of a nation.

About
I write poetry from life experience, though most won't seem that way as I never get into specifics to the events that bring about my work. I'm a silent individual for the most part which doesn't ma.. more..
