The Morning After (Leo)

(From Leo's Perspective) Leo wakes up to find a boy laying in his bed with him.

“Wakey wakey! Morning time everyone! Get down here for some breakfast!” The voice bellowed throughout the house. It was late in the morning and the sun was high in the sky shining brightly throughout the house, save for the bedrooms of course.

My room was relatively dim. Not much light got in through the thick curtains that covered my windows. I was comfortably laying on my small twin sized bed or at least I was till I heard the call for breakfast. I knew John hated to be kept waiting. Especially when it came to his breakfast. It was all he ever actually took the time to cook other then that one Thanksgiving. Though, that ended only in disaster and us having pizza instead. It was a fun Thanksgiving to say the least.

I rolled over onto my back and stared at the ceiling for a few moments letting my eyes adjust to the darkness. My room was small. Though I suppose for just one person it was big enough. I mean I never had anyone ever stay the night or anything so I guess giving the circumstances it is actually rather perfect. I always kept it relatively tidy. There was never any sort of build up and I didn't have that much stuff anyways. So there was a bunch of unused space. Actually now that I think about it all there is in my room really is my bed, a small writing desk, and my closet that was filled with a whole assortment of mixed match clothing. So I guess my room is rather large when you really get down to it.

I sat up stretching my arms out and upwards letting out a loud moanful yawn. I swung my legs out and that's I noticed the first thing wrong with that morning. There turned out to be a lot of things that were out of place that particular morning but I amazed even myself at how I missed them all. For starters I was stark naked. I never slept naked. I always wore my plaid jammies with a tee. Though I shrugged it off as just something I was too lazy to care about. The second thing that I should have noticed was the light snoring right next to me. How did I miss that of all things, I'll never know.

The hallway in the upstairs house were empty. Hobbling out of my still darkened room I hopped in my shower. Thus starting my morning ritual which always, always started with a nice warming shower. I absolutely adore showers. They are my alone time inside my head. That is the time in when I would go over all the stuff that I have done. Things I might do. People I know and a lot of just random stuff. Taking a shower always made me feel better too. Like it was just washing all my troubles away with its steamy purity. Pretty silly but I never thought so.

The shower had washed away most of my drowsiness. Wrapped in a towel and new found awareness I was soon back in the privacy of my own room. Everything was still pretty dark. The third thing I should have noticed that particular morning was all the clothing strewn about the floor of my room, which of course shouldn't have been there considering my tidiness. I even managed to stumble over a shirt that wasn't even mine! But still, I didn't notice a damn thing and assumed it was nothing. Maybe just a laundry accident with John or something. Boy was I way off that morning in just assuming it was a laundry accident with John or something.

Finally I threw open the curtains letting glorious sunlight into my rather dreary room. Everything brightened up quickly. The floor, the walls, and the bed. Oh the bed. As soon as the light hit it I heard a shuffling about under the sheets. I jerked myself around and stood there staring at the bed. Oh the freaking bed! Had I just heard it? Imagined it? Nope. Sure enough there was another shuffling and my mind was off racing with thoughts about who it was? What it was? Why was it there? And why in my bed!

A head popped up from under the sheets and it spoke. He spoke. “Good morning cutie.” And gave a soft warming smile. It was completely the opposite of what I did.

All I did was scream. Fall right on my a*s. And bang my head on the wall behind me. You never realize how hard a wall really is till you hit your head on one.

The boy was taken completely off guard by it and even rolled off the bed taking the sheets with him. It was at that point I noticed he too was naked. Oh god.

Panic gripped me and made things worse when I heard the heavy foot steps coming up the stairs. The same questions kept buzzing around in my head but they were all interrupted when I heard the loud banging at the door.

“Hey you alright in there?” John called out from behind the door. “I heard screaming.” He was still in the hallway thankfully. He knocked at the door again. “Leo!”

I was fumbling about over my own feet. I couldn't let John see me like this. With another boy in my room. A boy! What would he think? What do I think!? Truth is at that point I wasn't even thinking anymore. I managed to yank on some underwear that only seemed to want to wrestle me on this. Worse part was they weren't my underwear. The boy had rolled under the bed as I headed for the door. Smart.

“Hold on John!” I yelled, hopping about. Finally I threw the door open and as calmly as I could I said “Hey. What's going on?”

“You okay? I thought I screaming then a thud.”

           “I'm fine. Just perfect.”

           “Why did you yell?”

           “I fell”

“You fell.” He asked rather puzzled. I could tell he was cause he was furrowing his brow which meant he either didn't believe I was telling him the whole truth or he had an itch.

           “Yup.”

           “You sure nothings up?”

“Yea.” I was basically spitting the words at him. I just wanted him to leave. I didn't care to where just not here. I was almost certain he was suspicious but I really really didn't care. There was a strange boy in my room, under my bed of all things, and I had no clue who it was.

“Well okay then. Come on down it's time for breakfast. Rose is already down. I am going to go wake up Daniel.” I heard him walk down the hall and bang on the guest room door calling out for Daniel to wake up, then came back down the hall and down the stairs.Something else I hadn't notice at that particular morning was the emphasis on Daniel's name when he said it. But whatever his reason was it had sent the cogs in my head spinning.

I waited till I could no longer hear the foot steps. Only some random banter between John and Rose. “Daniel?” I asked in a whisper. I wasn't sure why I was whispering. It just felt like the right thing to do at the time like when you're in a library. You just wanna be quiet. So I was.

Daniel finally came rolling out from under the bed. “Why did you scream?” He asked as if he were confused. How did he expect me to react? I had just woken up to find a boy in my bed!

“The better question why are you in my bed?” I demanded.

“You don't remember?” He seemed rather bewildered. As if last night was some magical adventure that no one would ever care to forget.

It took me a few moments. Then all at once the memory came rushing back to me. The whole magical adventure had just waltzed back into my head without a care. My brain was like that you see. It didn't really care how it worked or how it effected me really. A rather annoying brain indeed but there it all was. The night before. Thank god it was Sunday I found myself telling myself. No school. Hopefully I can have some time to process what had happened.

“We...” I was at a loss of words.

“Yep. They say the morning after is the best time to freak out.”

           Awkward silence. I hate silence.

He started off. “Wanna talk about it?” But was cut off by the now very annoyed shouting of John.

“Later” I said. It was all I could say. It was all I wanted to say at that moment. Just like that he was out of the room and was probably getting dressed. He left me there in my room. Half naked, half bewildered, all confused.
