Authoritarian BoxA Poem by Chidoriflowerpoem abt my dad and his strict expectationsYou try to shove me into your black box Force me behind your pristine white line Don't you see once I've been set free You can never tear me down again You try to hold me in your crushing embrace Not knowing you're the one killing me Can't you understand I'm not a puppet You can't hold me down I've got no strings You try to dress me up or dress me down Shut down my voice, paint me like a clown Can't you see I'm my own person You can't make another you, another version You try to mold and twist me into a living opinion Show me off to the fake people you want to impress Why do their thoughts matter more than my life You can't cage a wild animal and expect it not to bite You try to get me to like you, like they do But you can't show them how broken you really are Because being wrapped in polite ice is easier You can't hide, they'll find out you're a liar You try to control me, but I'm now free I am my own person, and I'll improve for me I'm sorry you can't escape yourself for now You can do what you will, but I'll go and take a bow
