i think my life story needs a rewrite

i think my life story needs a rewrite

A Poem by Philip Gaber

I feel the tears behind the curtains of my eyes

waiting in the wings for their grand entrance,

 waiting for their cue,

waiting for the actors on stage to deliver their lines,

 waiting for the audience’s reaction,

 the critic’s reviews,

hoping that the show won’t close

 after tonight’s performance.

This is an analogy (?, I'm never sure what to call these things, extended metaphors maybe, my English teachers would be ashamed) I never would have thought of myself but it’s so fitting.
PS. I love the way you title things. They’re always so creative and make me want to click in and learn more.

Thank you, Green. I write it as if it's happening, and other people attach a term or a phrase to it. I don't listen to academics or English teachers. I just write what satisfies me. If it doesn't satisfy critics, so be it. They're not paying my rent!
