A Poem by Philip Gaber

I read
someplace
there are
like four
basic questions
in life.
Who am I?
Do you believe in God?
Do you love me?
And where do we go?
(after we die?)
I'm gonna think about this and get back to you, ok?

I often can't remember who I am, or maybe it's that I don't want to remember. That's why I always hated job interviews or interrogations from women. I'd rather just shut my mouth and let them fill in the details themselves. What's that psychological term called? Projection, right? I'm better at making up stories than defining my own. Yeah. go ask Alice. She knows.

Who am I? Read Alice in Wonderland, she never knew who she was and had a great adventure, some guy even wrote about it.
Do I believe in God? I think that too might be hinted at in AIW…but me, which one? Anything man, believes in is all hubris anyway.
do you love me? ….if’n ya gotta ask… but some friendly advice, just say yes…there’s some ticket outta town being sold every second.
Where do we go… now or when we die…. Now yer just messin’ with me. Me, I’m gonna go get a bagel and a schmear and watch dogs crap on the sidewalk. Afterward, I’m gonna….um, I dunno what I’m gonna do… and ain’t the point anyways?

I hate writing biographies. I was one of those kids who rode a banana seat bike and watched Saturday morning cartoons and Soul Train. But my mother would never buy any of those sugary cereals for us k.. more..
