Youngest Summers

Youngest Summers

A Poem by Devan McKinley

Sunflower kisses,

On your skin.

And watermelon,

Down your chin.

Muddy feet,

From a summer's rain.

Evening grilling,

leaves a ketchup stain.

Sticky fingers,

Toss a ball.

Ring-a-round the rosey,

We all fall.

Mumma knows,

That we remember.

Our youngest summers,

I will treasure.

Nostalgia that is sweet, heartfelt and lovely of lyric. Combined with starkly apt imagery, "Youngest Summers" clearly displays both talent and craft.
Very fine work, Devan!
