You're Losing

You're Losing

A Poem by Devan McKinley

How can one person give so much,
and still be stolen from?

When will enough be enough?
It's getting easier to call a bluff.
Maybe one day when you feel less tough,

You'll realize your all alone.
There's nobody trying to reach your phone.
Maybe now you'll start to watch your tone.
Maybe now the angers reached your bones.

And maybe now it's two packs a day.
But even the nicotine rush won't stay.
Problems in your head. can't run away.
I tried so many times to get your demons out to play.

But now they're too big and busting at the seams.
Got the angel and the devil but you can't pick a team.
Go for a ride to blow off some steam,
But it doesn't matter where you go.
See what I mean?

You can't escape the nature of your brain.
Doesn't matter how high you claim,
Money can't buy a lost mind's sane.
Point a finger, there's plenty to blame.
But not me, I tried to heal the pain.
Your too stubborn to admit that you've crossed a lane.
The sun is shining but you insist on rain.
