Unfinished

Unfinished

A Poem by Devan McKinley

I already tried to write away my pain once.

But I guess there's more in me than I thought.

I reached in my purse,

and found the necklace that you bought.

I tossed it aside,

tried to go about my day.

Saw our old picture,

had to rip it and throw it away.

Your shirt is still sitting in the corner.

And I bet it still smells like you.

I told myself I didn't want to find that out,

that I should spray it with my own perfume.

I haven't taken the blue polish off my nails.

The shade that you asked me to wear.

I really haven't done much of anything to be honest.

Sitting around my room with a blank stare.
