Lonely In Love

Lonely In Love

A Poem by Devan McKinley

I'm just laying here.
Feeling so damn empty.
Trying not to fall into the sadness.

My heart is telling me to cry,
But my brain won't let me.
The two combined is madness.

There are big, heavy storm clouds.
Gathered in my chest.
A lonely thunder rolling.

Longing for you,
While memories keep me warm.
All the strings attached are pulling.

My watch won't tick any faster.
And I'm trying so hard to be patient.
But each day is getting harder.

It's taken so much time,
And it's stolen a chunk of happiness.
Who knew Love liked to barter?
