Love

LOVE

Over a steamy dolce latte at my favorite corner coffee shop, I was emerged in a conversation about the commitment of love. I being the guru of all things romantic thought I knew everything there was to know about relationships. But after a few sips of my steamy goodness, it dawned on me, that maybe no one person can really know all there is to know about love.

See, I look at love as what makes the heart feel good and what makes you want to keep coming back for more. It’s being able to have a deep friendship that can overcome the hardest of times and the most horrible of incidents. But, sitting in my plush cozy chair amid the flurry of caffeinated on goers, I was taught a new lesson on the meaning of love by a new friend of mine.

Love in its ultimate form can hurt as much as it can feel good. Sometimes we must forgo all the feel good feelings and sacrifice for the better of a relationship. Only the strong and truly committed are capable of such devotion.

Imagine for a moment having to make an extremely difficult decision that you knew would ultimately hurt you, but save your relationship. Not an easy road for any one to walk on, even if the road was freshly paved.

But, to my amazement there are people among us that are willing to walk down such a brutal road. People so strong and so sure of their love that they are willing to open their heart to hurt in order to open there partners to heal.

There is no doubt that love on this level will in the end make both hearts complete. It’s like the movie Titanic. He had to save her, but in doing so he died. Still in the end he had eternal bliss with his love by his side. The moral is simple. Love may not always be easy, but for those of us who are like my friend or the guy on the Titanic, love is like a figure eight. It truly never ends and it always comes back around.
