Gazes

Gazes

A Poem by Sheri Lynn

Gazing upon the bright full moon
Shimmering stars dance against the black sky
Unmistakable beauty amongst the darkness
Sadness filling the heart as loneliness sets in
The stars appear so close and yet so far away
Just as the love has slipped through their fingers
Tears begin to swell in her eyes
As she gazes at the moon lit sky
Memories of yester-year fill her head
Promises made but not kept
As the tears stream down her face
Dreams of her future fall apart
As her heart aches for his touch
The shadows take over the beauty
Hiding the hope to find and fight for happiness
Slowly sleep takes her way
Dreaming of the bright full moon
