A Poem by Lawrence Hartmann

The cold and the dark poured
Down into the city and into the
Souls of Men and Women
And Pigeons and Squirrels  A concerto was played
That could only be Heard by the Cats
In the Apartments
You Asked Me if I Loved You and I Asked You
If You Were Going to Live Forever
You said
Yes
