Who's Eyes

Who's Eyes

A Poem by Chi Nichole

The long line of people in front of him had him thinking that if they were all excepted so would he. Trying to think up all his wrongs, all his rights. 'Surely.' He thought to himself. 'I did things just right.'
His turn to be called in front of the throne. Without any doubt at all this man began to speak.
"God I am a man who loves a lot. I never truly seeked trouble. I have been honest in my words. I've tried to keep every promise made and help as best I could through out my days. I have tried my hardest to stay right. I have tried to keep my patience when asked. I have a lot wrong and made my share of mistakes, but I am also just a man. My intentions were never to cause harm to anyone. I have taught a few of your name and have even asked some to join me in church. I have lived my life the best way I knew how and I am here to plead for my innocence now."
He paused and gulped as he looked at the face of God. Simply, he waited for the response.
"Who's eyes?" God questioned.
"Lord?"
"Who's eyes were you looking through?"
God was silent again as this man crumbled to the floor. He didn't need to say anything else. The man was shown through the eyes of God where he had gone wrong. Every promise that did not fall through. Everything he said that he didn't truly mean in his heart. He was shown the days he lived without God and the days he did, he only lived them out of fear. In understanding, defeat, and sorrow the man replied,
"Mine lord. I saw through mine."

We can not possibly change seeing through the eyes of man. What are we missing looking through the eyes of God?
