These eyes

These eyes

A Poem by Created Unfinished

I feel the shift before I notice I’ve started to laugh again.
The ground beneath me changed to summer, but I’ve only just opened my eyes.
I look back behind me to see all the flowers, the sun, the houses with laughter.
All of this missed because of my own darkness inside of my mind, that was just my own eyelids, hiding the light.
These days go by quickly. I’m hardly aware of how old that I’ve gotten, how my bones tear, and my wrinkles indented.
Enveloped, my eyes open, enjoying this life.
I only look back to remember to smile.

Seems to be a description of an awakening, a realization that much has been missed because of a preoccupation, possibly with negative things. Now there is an awareness that time does not wait and there is a limited window for enjoyment of the good that is here. Hopefully, the lost time will be made up. Good work.
