We Burned This City

We Burned This City

A Poem by c.m.
"

Stupid little rhyming poem...

"

My shaking arms held tight to you

Hands on the matches in your back pocket

From behind my hair was a heavenly view

A picture fit for a birthday locket

We burned this garish city

Set it aflame and danced in the ashes

The black on your cheek, so very pretty

From the corner of my eye, fire flashes

I held the ashes of a boy in hand

And for once thought only of your face

Across the way, you so stand

Your eyes holding tight to this place

We burned this garish city

Set it aflame and watched it die

The view from the hilltop was so very pretty

The wind blown ash a final goodbye

I think you did a great job with this. The piece could be taken into a lot of directions. Seems rather symbolic. All good. Well done!

What stupid...this as really good, short and punchy with a lot of attitude. I loved it. Everytime you come out swinging for the stands now, when you used to throw stuff out timidly. I love the writer you have become and are becoming. I am very proud of you.
