ThenA Poem by c.m.Sometimes, you have to get things off your chest. And the things I can't say, I say in poetry. So here it is...Do you remember when words were like drugs? The way you got me high frightened and amazed me. The craving I had to be near you euphoric and sweet You were like sugary candy to my virgin tongue
I loved you then
Do you remember when words were like bandages? A kiss on a scraped knee, a band-aid to stop the bleeding. Rushing back outside to fall down once more The prize was a kiss from heavenly lips.
I loved you then
Do you remember when words were like a kiss? A peck on your lips as you pulled your head away Hand placed on my cheek with a pained look in your eyes Your thumb stopping my quivering lip
I loved you then
Will we remember when words are like new? When we can laugh like hyenas and smile ear to ear When distance will be no obstacle for the two of us, The day you stand before me, wearing the smile I love.
I will love you then. © 2010 c.m.Author's Note
