52

52

A Poem by c.m.
"

I saw some candles

"

I saw that thing everywhere today

Candles, clocks, phones and notes

Written on clouds as the skies grew gray

Painted on sails of passing boats

My mind joined them in thought

Taking me places I’d never been

The time seemed so very far off

But truly, it was just around the bend

Would you keep me with you then

If I asked now, you wouldn’t know

I’ll stay with you till you say “when”

Love, I’ve no other place to go

OMG.....I so loved this all they way from the title to the ending line, and the intro sentence was very cool. You are getting very creative as of late, I see your work taking on a whole new feel. Its why you are one of my faves, you just keep getting better.

The last stanza was a bit ambiguous to me.
I take it this poem is about your dad possible who turned 52. You're strolling with him noticing number 52 everywhere and I'm sure the last stanza is about the same walk, but I'm just thrown off by "If I asked now, you wouldn’t know" and "I’ll stay with you till you say “when”.

The rhyming was spot on :)

You're such a great writer! I always come to read you- just never review. I find the best poets/writers are the ones who never get reviews and all the "attention" that comes along with it. Well done on this, C!
