What If...?

What If...?

A Poem by c.m.
"

It hurts...here's my truth.

"

What if I told you our secret?

As you lye, sweetly, beneath the clouds.

As the trees and stones whisper our words;

The sun blinding those gorgeous eyes with truth.

You plug your ears; shut your knowing eyes.

Standing to leave, wipe your mind clear; clean slate.

Shake off the thought of this truth so clearly stated

Placed before you as clear as the sun shining.

What if I told you I trust him?

As that beautiful head shakes, disapproving.

As if it's so insane you cannot believe in it.

Like pixies, goblins, ghosts, witches; fake.

You say it can't happen.

I don't know him and never will; never should.

Cruelty spitting from those gorgeous lips

I cannot comprehend what you've become.

What if I told you he cares for me?

As you run from me, closed off and unwilling to hear.

As I hear your steps growing less audible.

Your body transforming into the smallest of specks.

You leave me in this new world I've created,

Never stopping to see that the change is wonderful.

Your creation taking over your humanity,

Your mind closed to anything but what you are.

What if I told you I care for him too?

As the skies color fades, trees losing light

As I think of what I've become, now doubting the merit of it.

Light stolen from this once illuminated mind.

You stole the friend closest to my heart.

Changed; we are both new people; for better or worse?

Love has fixed a soul thought broken;

Love has destroyed the soul of a friend.
