Time...

Time...

A Poem by c.m.
"

Inspiration struck me...time can be cruel.

"

Time's cruel ways sicken me,

Everyday, I age, but sadly,

You do as well.

Time works against me,

Pulling you further and further

From my stretched and waiting arms.

Minutes seem hours with us,

Hours seem years.

Days fade into heartless nights.

I don't want to let sleep take me,

Don't want to let more time pass.

As leaves change and fall,

Giving way to the snow's dance.

Snow melts as the sun shines once more

Revealing my feelings and lost time.

But seasons change, love;

Sadly, as do we.

No way to slow you down,

No way for me to catch up.

I try desperately to rid myself of youth.

Maybe bathe it away in summer's sun;

Tuck it away in the leaves of the fall.

Bury it deep in the winter's snow;

Hide it in the flower fields of the spring.

Love, promise me you'll wait,

I promise to hurry.

I'll catch up to you one day,

Even if only in the skies.

You take us through a journey of time and seasons, and within it that longing for what lies ahead... You capture that feeling people have at any age, to either look back and wish or look ahead and wonder... Beautifully done!

Time.....wow this makes me sad and long to be young again and then again not. The despair of youth and the despair of age are really one and the same. With age, the wisdom of experience is the very thing that tells you that it’s good to be right where you are no matter where you are at in your life. I am 42 and have not hit a point in my life where I would like to stop aging, because every turn and change that time brings lends new experiences and wonders that are really specific to the amount of time you have spent on the planet. There are things I would go back for though, people, events, the feeling of first love. But if we could revisit them, they wouldn’t be as special. This is a great piece of writing, hits me right in the heart and makes me wonder what could have been and what is yet to come. Nice job sweets you have succeeded in making me tear up a little.
