The Nature of Life.A Poem by Chewan"Remarks are not literature." -Gertrude Stein
I've been in this place since my creation
Seen the anger of many Viewed the peace between few Through feuds, and rallies, and protests I am simply that statue next door. I am crumbling away Just like my neighbor and more Both young and old, I can feel their age. The disdain, the exuberance, and the distraught I am simply the sidewalk next door. I am called solid by those who aren't A sense of strength and absolute willing Some shelter for those with no home And for those who roots who are there at home. I am simply the tree next door. Back and forth, like the wars of ancient Mother Earth Calm and serene, like the roll of a baby's first breath The juncture between nations And the barrier of all I am simply the ocean next door I learn to watch and I learn to wait Learning about the virtues and sins of the world Knowing right from wrong, and the calling I was made for Rather it be sitting in the shadows, or standing as the first person in the crowd. Me? I am simply the girl next door. © 2011 ChewanAuthor's Note
