Rainbow TearsA Poem by Chet
I cried a rainbow tear
And talked to the man in the moon I shadowed the silvery dusk And walked another mile. What is this? She cried out to my self. How do you look in the mirror? I tried, I said, its tough. Go home! She said This place is only for the rest of us. I took my hat, my coat, my umbrella And turned into the night. It was cold dark and dangerous My nose burned in the acid air. I turned back. I just need some time, To recover, so I gave her my watch She took it and looked so pale Just a moment, she said, and then was no more. The trees came to be, the grass between my toes The air so clean The sun beamed a happy day. I sat by an old oak tree A moment it seems An eternity it seems The tree didn't care. Didn't know Didn't mind It was just there. I sat and I watched The Forrest alive The deer to eat Rabbits run by, foxes reaching up to sniff the air. Was I there a day, a week, a year? I did not know. But she returned just the same. It's time, she said. I lowered my head, I had no more to offer. You will go now, she said. It was not a request. But still I sat with my coat, hat and umbrella. And waited for the rainbow tears. © 2013 ChetReviews
