Castle

Castle

A Poem by Chesney W.

The footsteps of a beast,

echo under the trees.

The tenderness of a bird,

lies dead on the cold ground.

The light of day,

is nowhere to be found.

Small animals skitter to a safer spot,

to hide from the monster.

The forest's true creature

lurks in the darkness,

and is awaiting for a Princess.

That Princess is me.

I decide whether to be quiet

and wait until it finds me,

or to let it know that I am here.

As this thought lingers in my mind,

a man emerges from nowhere.

He comes to me and softly whispers,
"I've been waiting for you my Princess."

In that moment,

I realize that the beast my mother warned me about,

is actually what I've been waiting for,

My Prince Charming.

The dying forest turns to an amazing Castle.

Swans swim peacefully in the pond.

Beautiful roses grow.

The sound of a thousand violins play.

The Prince takes my hand and says to me,

"Welcome home."

Author's Note

Chesney W.
Parents often tell their children that the opposite sex is like a monster, and they have cooties or something. But in real life, that "monster" that we've been warned about is what we've alway dreamed about.

Indeed. (in response to your A.N.) I enjoy how straitforward this is, and to a very valid point.
